BC Lions Sign Three American Defensive Players
The BC Lions loaded up on defense as the team announced Tuesday the signing of three American players, including defensive backs Tyron Davis and Bryce Watts, along with linebacker Forrest Rhyne.
Davis spent time with the Los Angeles Rams in training camp this season after going unselected in the 2023 NFL Draft. He played his last two seasons of college at Tulsa, where he recorded 146 tackles, 28 pass deflections, four fumble recoveries, four forced fumbles and two interceptions in 44 games.
Watts was on the Pittsburgh Steelers roster in 2022 before getting injured at rookie minicamp. In college, he played one season for Virginia Tech for one season before transferring to North Carolina and later to UMass, where he recorded 43 tackles, four pass deflections and one interception in 12 appearances.
Rhyne attended training camp this year with the Pittsburgh Steelers after spending the 2022 season with the Indianapolis Colts. At Villanova, Rhyne won CAA Defensive Player of the Year in 2021 and was named First-Team All-CAA honors from 2019 through 2021. He finished his career with 179 tackles, 25.5 tackles for loss, 13 sacks, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery.
Last week, the team re-signed two key players on contract extensions, including wide receiver/return specialist Terry Williams and defensive lineman Sione Teuhema.
