The Calgary Stampeders are making sure they keep their top receiver for another season. Reggie Begelton agreed to a new one-year extension on Thursday that keeps him on the team through the 2025 season.

Begelton had a dominating season in 2023, leading Calgary with 86 receptions, 1,119 receiving yards, and five receiving touchdowns. He missed three games with an injury, but still earned All-Star honors.

Calgary added him to the roster in 2017, and he has been with the club since. He has 329 receptions for 4,445 yards and 24 touchdowns in 70 career games. He had his second season of 1,000 or more receiving yards in 2023. He had a career-high 1,444 yards in 2019 and earned All-Star honors that season.

Begelton spent 2020 with the Green Bay Packers, mostly on the practice squad. He was activated for one game in October before returning to the practice squad.

Begelton excelled on the field for the Lamar Cardinals in Beaumont, Texas, where he had 227 receptions, 2,435 yards, and 20 touchdowns in four seasons. He left the school as the all-time leader in receptions and was named to the All-Southland Conference team three times. Begelton attended Beaumont West Brook High School in southeast Texas.

After a disappointing 6-12 season in 2023, Calgary has 32 pending free agents before free agency kicks off on Feb. 13.
