Calgary Stampeders Sign Six Canadians, Release American Linebacker

The Calgary Stampeders announced the signing of six Canadian players and let go of an American linebacker.

As the offseason begins for the CFL, the Calgary Stampeders were quick to make some moves adding six Canadians to the roster. They also announced the release of American linebacker Adarius Taylor.

Taylor is a former NFL linebacker who played for the Carolina Panthers, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Cleveland Browns from 2014-20. He compiled 125 tackles, two sacks, three forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, one interception and one defensive touchdown during his NFL career. Calgary signed Taylor back in September to their practice roster before releasing him Monday.

The following six Canadians have been signed:

  • Kwadwo Boahen, defensive lineman
  • Rodeem Brown, offensive lineman
  • Campbell Fair, kicker
  • Sebastian Howard, running back
  • Ryan Leder, defensive lineman
  • Alexandre Marcoux, offensive lineman

Howard, Marcoux and Boahen were 2023 draft picks by the Stampeders. Boahen was taken in the third round, Marcoux in the fourth and Howard in the sixth.

Brown was drafted by the Montreal Alouettes in 2022 as their second-round pick. He joined the Stampeders back in June and played in two games. Brown did earn a start as their center Sept. 30 game against the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.

Fair was in training camp for Calgary and joined the Saskatchewan Roughriders practice roster for a short time. He decided to return to college at the University of Ottawa where he punted the ball 55 times and scored 57 points during the season.

Leder was on the practice roster for Calgary to close the season. He recently completed his last season at McMaster, where he had career numbers of 108 tackles and 8.5 sacks in 38 games.
