On the first official day of CFL free agency, the Toronto Argonauts Football Club announced they had signed defensive back Quincy Mauger (B.C.), fullback Albert Awachie (Saskatchewan), Global defensive lineman Thiadric Hansen and Canadian defensive back Kerfalla Exumé (Winnipeg).

The slew of signings come on the heels of the Argos adding All-Star defensive back Tunde Akelede and Canadian linebacker Fraser Sopik earlier in the day.

Mauger, 28, appeared in 18 games for B.C. last season, recording 46 defensive tackles, eight special teams tackles, three sacks, one interception and one forced fumble. The 6-0, 206-pound Georgia native was signed by the Leos in 2022 and spent time with the Blues (Spring League), Atlanta Falcons, Oakland Raiders and Atlanta Legends (AAF) between 2017 and 2020. In 50 games at the University of Georgia, Mauger contributed 186 tackles, seven interceptions and one forced fumble.

Hansen, 31, played four games with Winnipeg in 2023 and tallied three defensive tackles, one sack and two forced fumbles. The Bombers selected the German native with the second overall pick of the 2019 CFL European Draft. The 6-2, 254-pound defensive lineman has participated in three out of the last four Grey Cups — he missed it in 2022 due to injury — and lifted the trophy on two of those occasions. Hansen spent time with the Wrocklaw Panthers of the European Football League during the canceled 2020 CFL season, winning the Polish Bowl. From 2012-2018, Hansen played for the Kiel Baltic Hurricanes of the German Football League, leaving as the team's all-time leading tackler.

Exumé, a 29-year-old special teams standout, played 14 games for Winnipeg last season and tallied 17 special teams tackles, tied for the fifth-most in the league. The 6-0, 197-pound Montreal native was drafted by Winnipeg in the eighth round of the 2019 CFL Draft and finished second in the league with 25 special teams tackles as a rookie.

Awachie, a 31-year-old Toronto native, has played 67 games across six CFL seasons, all with the Roughriders, including 14 appearances in 2023. The 6-3, 262-pounder and has caught nine passes for 74 yards while chipping in with 15 special teams tackles. Awachie played four years at the University of Toronto (2013-2016) at both receiver and defensive back for the Varsity Blues.
