As NFL teams approach the end of the regular season, some are working on adding for the end of the season. Some teams are starting to focus on the offseason. The Denver Broncos brought in quite a bit of players to work out from the north.

This week, seven CFL players worked out for the Broncos. Here is the full list of players who participated:

  • Samuel Emilus, Saskatchewan Roughriders (WR)
  • Kian Schaffer-Baker, Saskatchewan Roughriders (WR)
  • Evan Holm, Winnipeg Blue Bombers (DB)
  • Mustafa Johnson, Montreal Alouettes (DL)
  • Jonathan Jones, Toronto Argonauts (LB)
  • Darius Williams, Calgary Stampeders (LB)
  • Josh Woods, BC Lions (LB)

Emilus played a big role in the passing game for the Roughriders last year recording 1,097 yards and six touchdowns. Schaffer-Baker appeared in nine games after hip surgery, racking up 430 receiving yards and three touchdowns. Both players were taken by Saskatchewan in the CFL Draft.

Holm started 18 games for the Blue Bombers, recording 68 total tackles, 12 pass deflections, two sacks and two interceptions. He was named to the CFL West Division All-Star in 2023. Holm worked out with the Minnesota Vikings earlier in the week.

Johnson was a CFL East All-Star last season after recording 43 tackles, seven sacks, one fumble recovery and one touchdown for Montreal. The Alouettes locked Johnson up on a two-year contract extension last week.

Jones saw significant playing time last year for the Argos, playing in all 18 games. He recorded 49 defensive tackles, 13 special teams tackles, seven sacks and one interception. Toronto has been his football home for two years.

Williams was more known as a special teamer for the Stampeders last season, finishing with 22 special teams tackles in 16 games. He’s played in 25 games for Calgary throughout his CFL career.

Woods statistically had the best season of his career in 2023 for the Lions with 45 defensive tackles, nine special teams tackles, two interceptions, and one touchdown. He has spent three seasons with the Lions.

With the offseason approaching for the NFL, expect more workouts with CFL players as they try to lock up spots in the United States before returning to Canada.
