Edmonton Elks Bring Back Canadian Offensive Lineman on New Contract
The Edmonton Elks continue to stay active in the offseason as they bring back one of their offensive linemen to the roster. Canadian offensive lineman Phillip Grohovac agreed to a contract with the Elks to return, the team announced Friday.
Grohovac attended college at the University of Western Ontario where he played 23 games with the school. He helped the Mustangs win the Vanier Cup national championship in 2021.
Edmonton drafted Grohovac with the 20th overall pick in the 2023 CFL Draft in the third round. He suited up for 11 games for the Elks making his debut in Week 1 of the regular season. In Week 5 against the Saskatchewan Roughriders, Grohovac made his first CFL start for the team.
Grohovac served as the backup center for starter Mark Korte. The Elks have four offensive linemen who are listed as free agents heading into the free agency period, which begins in February.
He will rejoin the Elks after they finished the 2023 season with a 4-14 record winning all four of their games in the last nine contests.
