Former Cowboys, Texas A&M Defender Re-Signs with Calgary Stampeders
The Calgary Stampeders re-signed Damontre Moore after he played in one game in October for the CFL team.
Moore, an American player, had an extensive career in the NFL, playing from 2013-20 for seven different teams, including the Dallas Cowboys.
Moore hasn’t played in the NFL since a 10-game stint with the Seattle Seahawks in 2020. He spent 2021 on the practice squads for the Indianapolis Colts and Carolina Panthers.
Moore has been in the CFL off and on since the 2022 season, when he played one game for the Toronto Argonauts, ensuring him of a piece of a Grey Cup title.
Before he played for the Stampeders, he did some time on the Montreal Alouettes practice roster. The Alouettes are playing in the Grey Cup this weekend.
Moore ended the 2023 CFL season on the Stampeders’ practice roster.
Moore was a third-round pick of the New York Giants in 2013 and he spent three seasons with the Giants before embarking on a career that saw him also play or spend practice squad time with the Miami Dolphins, Oakland (now Las Vegas) Raiders and San Francisco 49ers.
He also did time with the San Diego Fleet of the Alliance of American Football.
He played 66 NFL games, with 97 career tackles.
Moore is a Texas native who played college football at Texas A&M. He enjoyed an impressive 2012 season, being named a consensus first-team All-American and a first-team All-SEC selection after recording 85 tackles and 12.5 sacks. His 26.5 career sacks was sixth-best in A&M program history when he left.
