Top Five Tiger-Cats Free Agents

Matthew Shiltz, Quarterback

The quarterback position for Hamilton was a mess with quarterbacks getting injured left and right, and with rumors about the future of Bo Levi Mitchell. Shiltz might be a must-sign for the Ti-Cats. Shiltz played in 11 games in 2023 throwing for 1,556 yards and seven touchdowns to five interceptions. Taylor Powell showed promise in year one, but having a veteran quarterback like Shiltz is essential especially if Mitchell indeed departs in the offseason.

Tim White, Wide Receiver

There might not be a player that is more important to bring back next season than White. Hamilton saw White lead the CFL in receiving yards with 1,269 yards and tied for third with eight receiving touchdowns. White earned CFL All-Star honors, so with five other receivers as pending free agents, the Tiger-Cats’ No. 1 priority should be re-signing White.

Brandon Revenberg, Guard

Hamilton’s most important offensive lineman is Revenberg. He played in all 18 regular season games and earned CFL East All-Star honors. Four of their five starting offensive linemen from their playoff game are pending free agents, so Revenberg should be high on the list of players to bring back.

Jameer Thurman, Linebacker

One of the top tacklers in the CFL is hitting free agency. Thurman was sixth in the CFL in defensive tackles with 98 while adding five sacks, two interceptions, two forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, and one tackle for loss in 2023. Six of their top seven tacklers are free agents so a lot of work needs to be done to bring back some of their top defenders.

Stavros Katsantonis, Defensive Back

The secondary will be losing two of their key pieces to free agency with Katsantonis being one of the top defenders potentially leaving. Katsantonis was tied for second in the CFL in interceptions with five while adding career-high numbers with 56 total tackles, two sacks, two forced fumbles and one touchdown. Hamilton should find a way to bring back their top defensive back to the team.
