Hamilton Tiger-Cats Shore Up Secondary, Bring in Former Cleveland Browns DB

The secondary of the Hamilton Tiger-Cats is taking shape as defensive back Caleb Biggers joined the team on Monday.

The focus has been on a mix of offense and defense this offseason for Hamilton, including a search for ball hawks to help the secondary for the 2024 season. Former Boise State and Cleveland Browns defensive back Caleb Biggers became the latest player to sign with the Tiger-Cats on Monday.

Biggers signed as an undrafted free agent with the Cleveland Browns in 2023, ultimately being released by the team towards the end of August.

Biggers spent his final two collegiate years with the Boise State Broncos, starting 22 of the 26 games he appeared in and finishing with 73 total tackles, 5.5 tackles for loss, one sack, one interception, 10 pass deflections, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery. Biggers was an All-Mountain West Honorable Mention in 2022 and was featured on Reese’s Senior Bowl Watch List last year.

Defensive back Caleb Biggers will make his CFL debut this season with Hamilton after a preseason stint with the Cleveland Browns in 2023.

From 2018 through 2020, Biggers attended Bowling Green and posted 100 tackles, four tackles for loss, four pass deflections and one fumble recovery in 25 career games.

Since Feb. 20, the team has added six players, with only two of the signings coming on the defensive side of the ball.

The Tiger-Cats are on the road to open the 2024 campaign as they face the Calgary Stampeders on June 7.
