Three Canadians are staying in their home country as the Montreal Alouettes signed a trio of players to contracts Wednesday. Those players are defensive back Maxym Lavallée, offensive lineman Theo Grant, and fullback Jacob Mason.

The deals will be good through the 2026 season.

“Canadian content is paramount in this league and these signatures add a lot of depth to our team,” Alouettes general manager Danny Maciocia said. “Mason has some experience with us while Lavallée and Grant will have the chance to crack our roster in our next training camp.”

Lavallee spent time in training camp with the Alouettes, but did not make the final roster. He played in seven games with the University of Laval Rouge et Or this season. recording 30 total tackles and two pass deflections. His other accomplishments in college include being named to the 2022 RSEQ All-Star team and he won Defensive Rookie of the Year in 2018.

Grant played four seasons at Queen’s University Golden Gaels. Last season, he played in eight games helping the offensive line produce a 1,000-yard rusher, averaging 147.3 yards rushing per game.

Mason was selected in the fifth round of the 2023 CFL Draft by Montreal. He played in two games during the preseason and was on the team’s practice roster. During his four seasons at McMaster University, he recorded 134 rushing yards and 170 receiving yards. He also had 18 tackles and one forced fumble in his career.

This was the first roster move made by Montreal since re-signing linebacker Tyrice Beverette.
