It’s clear that the Montreal Alouettes want to make sure they keep the Grey Cup championship team intact with the number of players they are re-signing.

They kept that trend going Tuesday as they announced the re-signings offensive tackle Jamar McGloster and defensive back Dionte Ruffin.

McGloster played in the NFL for multiple teams including the San Francisco 49ers, Detroit Lions, Los Angeles Rams and Oakland Raiders from 2018-19.

His first CFL team would be the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in 2019 for a short time before being released. McGloster signed with the Ottawa Redblacks in 2020 starting in five games in 2021. The BC Lions were his next step in 2022, but was short-lived before being cut at the end of training camp.

Montreal signed him two months into the 2022 season. This past season, McGloster played in 11 games and started nine on the offensive line. He played a key role in opening up the running game in the Alouettes’ 28-24 Grey Cup victory over Winnipeg.

Prior to joining the CFL, Ruffin was signed by the Chicago Bears in 2021 after not being selected in the NFL Draft. He was part of the Bears’ final cuts in training camp that same season.

The Calgary Stampeders were the first stop in Ruffin’s CFL career in 2022. He finished with 39 defensive tackles and one interception in nine games.

Montreal added him to the roster for the 2023 season. Despite being one of the starters for the season opener, he did have to spend part of the season on the injured list. He recorded 23 tackles and a forced fumble in 12 games played. His three playoff games added seven defensive tackles and a pass deflection.

McGloster and Ruffin are the fifth and sixth players to be re-signed in the last two weeks. The others include quarterback Cody Fajardo, defensive lineman Shawn Lemon, linebacker Darnell Sankey and defensive lineman Mustafa Johnson.
