The Ottawa Redblacks focused on acquiring skill players this week with three key signings. Ottawa has brought in two defensive backs in Yusuf Corker and Bennett Williams, as well as wide receiver Sam James Jr.

James signed with the Los Angeles Rams after the NFL Draft before being cut from the team in June. He had a strong five-year career at West Virginia, posting 190 receptions for 2,229 yards and 15 touchdowns. He had an especially strong 2022 senior campaign, finishing with 46 catches fora career-high 745 yards and a career-high six touchdowns.

Corker spent training camp with the Cincinnati Bengals last year before his release. He played five seasons at Kentucky making 240 tackles, 6.5 tackles for loss, two sacks, one forced fumble, 17 pass deflections and three interceptions in 50 games.

Williams originally signed with the Miami Dolphins after the draft last year before being released. He started his first two years in college with Illinois before transferring to Oregon. His best season with the Ducks came his senior year in 2022, as he racked up 72 tackles, six pass deflections, one sack, two forced fumbles and two interceptions.

The Redblacks start their season on June 13 at home against the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.
