Ottawa Redblacks, Jeremiah Masoli Agree to Restructured Deal

The Ottawa Redblacks worked out a restructured deal with quarterback Jeremiah Masoli this weekend.

Quarterback Jeremiah Masoli will be playing under different terms for the Ottawa Redblacks in 2024. 3DownNation’s Justin Dunk reported Sunday the two sides agreed on a restructured deal.

Masoli was due a $100,000 roster bonus on Monday. The new deal gave him a $45,000 signing bonus and totals $133,800 for 2024.

Incentives could increase his earning potential to $236,800, depending on playing time. Masoli will earn $5,000 per game when he plays 51% or more of the offensive snaps, for a potential total of $90,000.

Masoli has suffered season-ending injuries in the past two seasons with Ottawa. He missed 14 games with a leg injury in 2022. Last season, he played just one game before suffering a torn Achilles.

Masoli, 35, signed with Edmonton in 2012 and made his CFL debut with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in 2013. He started eight games in his breakout season in 2016 when he threw for 2,695 yards, 15 touchdowns, and rushed for six scores. In 2018, Masoli had his best season throwing for 5,209 yards and 28 touchdowns and earned CFL East All-Star honors.

Masoli has thrown for 16,638 yards and 82 touchdowns with 53 interceptions in his career. He has rushed 1,546 yards and 20 touchdowns in 118 games.

Injuries have been a concern in recent years. He has suffered significant injuries in 2019, 2022, and 2023. This might be the last ride for Masoli as he looks to take Ottawa to the playoffs for the first time since 2018.
