The Ottawa Redblacks added four American offensive skill players to the roster Tuesday morning.

The Ottawa Redblacks are looking to add some weapons on offense as four new players are joining the unit. They announced on X Tuesday morning the signing of four American players to their roster.

Here are the skill players joining Ottawa:

  • Ryquell Armstead, running back
  • Tyler Hoosman, running back
  • KeSean Carter, wide receiver
  • Jon’Vea Johnson, wide receiver

Armstead is coming off a run in the United States playing in the XFL with the DC Defenders, finishing with 218 rushing yards in eight games. He is a former fifth-round pick in the 2019 NFL Draft playing for the Jacksonville Jaguars, New York Giants, New Orleans Saints and Green Bay Packers.

Hoosman spent his college career playing at Northern Iowa and transferred to North Dakota in 2022 where he ran for 882 yards and 11 touchdowns. He joined the Los Angeles Chargers this past training camp where he was waived at the end of August.

Carter played for the Houston Cougars in college where he finished his senior season in 2022 with career highs in catches (38), yards (601) and touchdowns (five). He previously had minicamp tryouts with the Chicago Bears and Tampa Bay Buccaneers this past spring before having a tryout with the XFL in the summer.

Johnson is back in the CFL after a short stint with the Montreal Alouettes on their practice roster in 2022. He spent two months with the Memphis Showboats of the USFL this year. Johnson was also part of the Dallas Cowboys, Jacksonville Jaguars and Chicago Bears in the NFL from 2019-21.
