Report: Marc Mueller Hired as Offensive Coordinator for Roughriders
In one of his first moves as coach of the Saskatchewan Roughriders, Corey Mace is bringing on a new offensive coordinator.
TSN’s Farhan Lalji was told that Calgary Stampeders quarterback coach Marc Mueller had finalized a deal with the Roughriders.
Mueller has been the quarterbacks coach for the Stampeders since 2020 after joining the Calgary staff as a defensive assistant in 2014. Additionally, he coached the running backs from 2015 until 2019.
Mace has a long-running professional relationship with his newest hire, beginning when Mace played on the defensive line for Calgary from 2014-15 when Mueller was on the staff. They later both coached together for the Stampeders until 2021, when Mace left for the Toronto Argonauts’ defensive coordinator role.
This past season, Mueller was tasked with working with Jake Maier as the team moved on from Bo Levi Mitchell. The transition resulted in Maier finishing third in the CFL in passing yards with 4,244 yards while throwing 19 touchdowns.
There is no word on when the team is expected to make an official announcement. Mace will look next for a defensive coordinator as he continues to build his coaching staff.
The Roughriders finished last season with a 6-12 record before declining to bring back previous coach Craig Dickenson. Mace was announced as the new coach for Saskatchewan last week.
