Former Arizona Cardinals Wide Receiver Joins Saskatchewan Roughriders
Saskatchewan adds some pass-catching talent to the offense. The Roughriders announced Thursday that former Arizona Cardinals wide receiver KeeSean Johnson had signed a contract with the club.
The Cardinals selected Johnson in the sixth round of the 2019 NFL Draft. He appeared in 18 games in two seasons with Arizona, catching 36 passes for 360 yards and one touchdown. Johnson also had stints with the Philadelphia Eagles, San Francisco 49ers, Atlanta Falcons and Buffalo Bills through the 2022 season.
From 2014 through 2018, Johnson played at Fresno State, where he made 275 receptions for 3,463 yards and 24 touchdowns in 51 games. His career receptions and yards are both school records. He earned a Second-Team All-Mountain West selection as a senior, hauling in 95 passes for 1,340 yards and eight touchdowns — all of which were all team-highs.

Johnson joins 13 other receivers on the Roughriders roster fighting to make the team this season. Shawn Bane Jr. and Samuel Emilus are the top returning receivers, with former Green Bay Packers receiver Geronimo Allison being another player to watch. Johnson becomes the second receiver in three days to sign with the Riders after Dazz Newsome signed on Tuesday.
Saskatchewan opens the 2024 CFL season on the road on June 8, taking on the Edmonton Elks.
