“Scary” Terry is back with the BC Lions and is ready to terrorize secondaries for the next two seasons.

The team announced Wednesday the signing of wide receiver Terry Williams to a two-year contract extension that is good through the 2025 season.

Williams is best known for what he does on special teams as one of the top returners in the CFL. He led the league in kickoff return yards with 1,315 and his 878 punt return yards were good for third. Williams became the first player in CFL history to take back a missed conversion for a score with a 126-yard return against the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in the West Final.

The Lions traded for Williams in 2022 from the Ottawa Redblacks, where he played for one season. Williams also led the league in kickoff return yards with 914 through nine weeks with the Redblacks. He finished with 948 total return yards the rest of the season for BC.

Williams spent two seasons with Itawamba Community College, where he recorded 1,095 receiving yards in his sophomore year to be the all-time leading receiver in school history. He then transferred to Tennessee-Martin for the 2018 and 2019 seasons and racked up 125 receptions for 1,317 yards and six touchdowns in 23 games.

Williams was one of 22 pending free agents on the team. So far, the team has also re-signed linebacker Maxime Rouyer, and quarterback Dane Evans retired from football earlier in the week.
