Top CFL Draft Prospect Scores Amazing Touchdown, Flying High for Philadelphia Eagles

Sydney Brown, one of the top prospects in the 2023 CFL Draft, exploded onto the scene Sunday for the Philadelphia Eagles with a breathtaking pick 6.

Canada has produced some great players who have found their way onto NFL fields. The country saw one of their own come up big on Sunday with the Philadelphia Eagles.

London, Ontario, native Sydney Brown was on the field for the Eagles against the Arizona Cardinals. The Eagles were up 7-3 in the second quarter with the Cardinals threatening to score and take the lead, but quarterback Kyler Murray throws an interception to Brown that was returned 99 yards for a touchdown.

That score gave the Eagles a 14-6 lead, but Philadelphia ultimately lost to Arizona in the last seconds 35-31. Brown finished the day with two tackles, one pass deflection and his pick 6.

The rookie safety has recorded 32 tackles, three pass deflections, one forced fumble, one interception and one touchdown this season.

He is the twin brother of Cincinnati Bengals running back Chase Brown, who was drafted by the Grey Cup champions Montreal Alouettes in the seventh round of the 2023 CFL Draft.

Sydney Brown was the No. 3-ranked prospect entering the 2023 CFL Draft with his brother being No. 2. Brown was expected to be a high NFL Draft pick, so CFL teams passed on him. He would be drafted by the Eagles in the third round of the 2023 NFL Draft.

Before his professional career, Brown was a star defensive back for the University of Illinois and was named on the All-Big Ten twice. His final stats include 186 tackles, 10 tackles for loss, two sacks, 10 interceptions, 26 pass deflections, four forced fumbles and one fumble recovery in 51 games.

The Eagles are currently 11-5 and the fifth seed in the NFC. Philadelphia takes on the New York Giants in the season finale Sunday.
