For the first time since the Grey Cup ended, the Toronto Argonauts make moves to their roster. The Argos announced on X (formerly Twitter) Wednesday that six players have been re-signed to the roster:

  • Spencer Nichols, fullback
  • Braydon Noll, offensive lineman
  • Aaron Parker, wide receiver
  • Ife Onyemenam, linebacker
  • Anthony Vandal, offensive lineman
  • BJ Byrd, wide receiver
  • Brendan Murphy, linebacker

Murphy was a seventh-round pick of the Argonauts in the 2023 CFL Draft. Nichols was a fourth-round draft pick, Onyemenam in sixth round and Vandal in the eighth round.

The team also announced the signing of two American players, wide receiver Jordan Byrd and defensive lineman Nelson Jordan II.

Byrd was a two-time first-team All-Mountain West selection in 2021 and 2022 at San Diego State. He played running back in college, but was known more as a returner after recording a kickoff and punt return for a touchdown in 2022. Byrd signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers after the 2023 NFL Draft before getting released at the end of August.

Jordan was a star at Alabama State, recording 28 tackles, seven tackles for loss and 11 sacks in nine games in 2022. He shined at the HBCU Legacy Bowl after the season recording a sack in the game.

More roster moves should be expected as the Argonauts look to build off of their 16-2 record in 2023.
