Winnipeg Blue Bombers Add Four Americans to Offseason Roster
Since the end of the first week of free agency, signings across the nine CFL teams have slowed down. With most of the top players off the board, these next couple of months are about finding hidden gems and building depth.
The have Winnipeg Blue Bombers added four players since Friday that could fit that description:
- WR Jaylen Hall
- DB James Campbell
- WR Isaiah Coulter
- DB Anthony Witherstone
Hall spent part of last season with the Edmonton Elks after being signed in July. He played five seasons at Western Michigan, catching 46 passes for 752 yards and three touchdowns in his last year with the school in 2021. His best season came after he transferred to Western Kentucky in 2022, ending with 68 receptions for 869 yards and six touchdowns, as well as a punt return touchdown.
Campbell had a short stint in the NFL with the Seattle Seahawks, but the team released him before training camp. In two years at Montana State, he made 54 tackles, two tackles for loss, two interceptions, five pass deflections, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery in 23 games.
Coulter was just released by the D.C. Defenders of the UFL on Sunday as part of mandatory training camp cuts. He spent time in the NFL with the Chicago Bears, Buffalo Bills and Houston Texans between 2020 through 2023. In 34 career games at Rhode Island, Coulter made 132 catches for 1,855 yards and 12 touchdowns.
Witherstone was in training camp with the Kansas City Chiefs last year before the team released him in August. He played five seasons at Merrimack College, posting 74 tackles, two tackles for loss, four interceptions, 19 pass deflections and one fumble recovery in 35 games.
Winnipeg will be hosting the defending Grey Cup champions Montreal Alouettes in the rematch on June 6.
