Ruth World Series Glove, Game-Used Clemente Bat Lead Heritage’s Winter Platinum Night Sports Auction
Heritage’s annual Winter Platinum Night Sports Auction is set for Feb. 24 and 25, and several of the top items come from two of baseball’s greatest.
Of the more than 1,600 lots, it’s hard to imagine any will be watched as closely as Babe Ruth’s 1916 World Series glove. Used in a 14-inning complete-game win, Ruth signed the glove twice — first in 1916 and again years later with an additional inscription.
Along with the glove, the auction also features a Ruth postcard from 1915 and a game-used and signed Ruth bat from the 1928 and 1929 seasons.
A Roberto Clemente game-used and signed bat from the early 1970s is another major highlight. Originally gifted to a memorabilia collector, the bat has also been photomatched with an image from Three Rivers Stadium.
For hockey fans, there’s a case of 16 unopened boxes of 1979-1980 O-Pee-Chee that could feature Wayne Gretzky rookie cards.
Other items of note include a complete set of 1986 Fleer Basketball PSA 10s, a 1952 Topps Mickey Mantle PSA 8.5, a game-worn and signed Hank Aaron jersey from 1962, and a Tom Brady game-used and signed jersey that was gifted to Julio Jones.
