Iowa State upset top-ranked Oklahoma 82–77 at home on Monday night, handing the Sooners their second loss of the season.

Oklahoma assumed the No. 1 spot in the polls on Monday, replacing Kansas after the Jayhawks lost on the road to West Virginia.

The Cyclones were led by senior forward Georges Niang, who had 22 points. Monte Morris and Abdel Nader each scored 20, while Jameel McKay had eight points, 13 rebounds and four blocks.

Before Monday, Iowa State’s lone win against a No. 1 team came against Wilt Chamberlain’s Kansas in 1957.

The last time Oklahoma was ranked first in the AP poll was 1990.
