Mangum entered the game after an injury to starter Taysom Hill. After the game, BYU coach Bronco Mendenhall revealed Hill will miss the rest of the season due to a lisfranc injury. It's the second straight season to end with an injury for Hill, who broke his leg against Utah State on Oct. 3 last year.

Hill completed 21 of 34 passes for 268 yards against the Cornhuskers before leaving the game. He threw one touchdown and interception. Hill also had nine carries for 72 yards and two touchdowns on the ground.

The Cougars’ offense started strong against Nebraska, scoring 17 straight points in the second quarter to take a 24-14 lead into halftime.
