Blood flow has returned to the right leg of UCF quarterback McKenzie Milton after he suffered a grisly injury in Friday's win over USF, according to a statement from his parents obtained by WFTV Orlando.

The junior signal caller suffered nerve damage as well, but the nerve is still intact. Milton will have reconstructive surgery on his knee. A date has not been determined yet for when that procedure will take place.

Milton exited Friday's 38-10 victory in the second quarter when he was injured while running for a first down. He was carted off the field with his leg in a cast and eventually transported to Tampa General Hospital.

"McKenzie and our entire family are so touched and grateful for all the prayers, support and well wishes," Mark and Teresa Milton said in the statement. "McKenzie is in good spirits and has a very positive attitude. He looks forward to cheering on his teammates in their quest for another conference championship this Saturday."

The family also thanked the staff at Tampa General Hospital as well as the medical teams and athletic trainers of UCF and USF that tended to Milton on the field following the gruesome injury.

At the AAC Championship on Saturday 40,00 leis will be distributed among the crowd in honor of the Hawaiian quarterback.

With an 11-0 record, UCF is looking to finish off its second consecutive undefeated season. The Knights went 13-0 last season but were held out of the College Football Playoff despite the unblemished record.
