Shortly after he joined Texas as a defensive coordinator in 2008, Muschamp was publicly labeled as the future successor of Longhorns coach Mack Brown.
Muschamp attended the University of Georgia. The Bulldogs defeated Muschamp's Gators in 2011 but Florida is looking for revenge on Oct. 27.
Muschamp is 1-0 as a head coach in bowl games. Florida defeated Ohio State 24-17 in the 2011 Gator Bowl.
On Oct. 22 Muschamp said he sat his team down and told them to ignore the BCS and the other rankings because it would not help them play football.
Muschamp, 41, is the second-youngest head coach in the SEC, behind 40-year-old Dan Mullen of Mississippi State.
Muschamp signed a five-year, $13.75 million contract with the Gators in December 2010. On average he is making about $2.75 million per year. In February 2012 his contract was extended another year.
