Former Oklahoma State quarterback Wes Lunt will transfer to Illinois, Zach Kerker of Springfield, Ill., Sports Radio 1450 reports.
Lunt decided to leave Oklahoma State in May in the thick of a three-way quarterback competition with senior Clint Chelf and sophomore J.W. Walsh. Cowboys coach Mike Gundy placed a number of criticized restrictions on the move, barring Lunt from transferring to any team in the SEC, Pac-12 or Big 12, as well as Southern Miss and Eastern Michigan.
As Oklahoma State's first true freshman starter in more than 50 years, Lunt threw for 1,108 yards, six touchdowns and seven interceptions in 2012, but played in only six games due to nagging injuries. He will be forced to sit out the 2013 season but will be able to compete the starting job for Tim Beckman and the Fighting Illini in 2014.
