LSU running back Jeremy Hill, who was suspended indefinitely following an altercation outside a Baton Rouge bar on April 27, has been charged with simple battery, Jim Kleinpeter of the New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.

The charge stems from Hill's role in a fight that took place in April, in which Hill and another male allegedly punched a man on the side of the head:

Hill, LSU's leading rusher last season, was arrested at 3:50 a.m. after fleeing the scene of the fight, which occurred at about 2:13 a.m. outside Reggie's bar in Tigerland. Hill and another man, Robert Bayardo, allegedly punched the victim, Connor Baldridge, according to the police report which includes officers viewing a cell phone video of the fight.

Hill allegedly punched Connor Baldridge behind the left ear and Bayardo knocked him out with another punch. Hill and Bayardo then exchanged high fives, the police report said.

LSU coach Les Miles suspended Hill in April and has not made a decision regarding the player's status for the 2013 season.

According to Kleinpeter, Hill was on probation at the time of his arrest. The terms of his probation have since been altered to include a 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. curfew.

As a freshman in 2012, Hill led LSU with 755 rushing yards and 12 touchdowns. Hill’s prior arrest came in early 2011 for an alleged sexual assault on a 14-year-old girl; he plead guilty to a misdemeanor and delayed his enrollment at LSU until last fall.
