Penn State has finally named its starting quarterback. According to ESPN's Josh Moyer, true freshman Christian Hackenberg will start for the Nittany Lions against ACC new member Syracuse on Saturday in East Rutherford, N.J.
The 6-foot-4 freshman from Fork Union (Va.) Military Academy was a five-star recruit and the No. 2 quarterback in the class of 2013, according to Rivals.com. Hackenberg committed to Bill O'Brien's team over offers from Alabama, Florida, Tennessee and South Carolina, among others.
From the ESPN article:
Hackenberg will become just the second true freshman in the last century to start at quarterback for the Nittany Lions. Shorty Miller became the first in 1910, and Rob Bolden made his debut in 2008.
