South Carolina QB Connor Shaw to miss 2-3 weeks with shoulder injury

South Carolina quarterback Connor Shaw left Saturday's game at UCF with a right shoulder sprain, and he'll miss two to three weeks of action, coach Steve Spurrier said after the game.

Shaw exited during the first quarter of No. 12 South Carolina's matchup with the Knights after landing awkwardly on his shoulder. The Gamecocks replaced Shaw with junior Dylan Thompson for the remainder of the game. Thompson finished 15-of-32 for 261 yards and one interception in South Carolina's 28-25 win.

Thompson saw significant playing time backing up Shaw in 2012, completing 66-of-127 passes for 1,027 yards, 10 touchdowns and two interceptions. He claimed victories in his only two starts of last season against East Carolina and Clemson. The Gamecocks play Kentucky next weekend before hitting the road for games against Arkansas and Tennessee.
