Alabama junior safety Vinnie Sunseri will miss the remainder of the season with a torn ACL, coach Nick Saban confirmed Monday. Sunseri will have surgery Tuesday.
Sunseri suffered the injury in the first quarter of Saturday's 52-0 win against Arkansas. After heading to the locker room, he returned to the sidelines in street clothes and received hugs from teammates.
Saban told reporters after the game that Sunseri would undergo an MRI on Sunday. "We'll see what the verdict is," Saban said on Saturday, "but it could be serious."
Sunseri has 20 tackles on the season -- seventh on the team -- four pass breakups and two interceptions, with both picks returned for touchdowns. Landon Collins is expected to fill the void at safety in Sunseri's absence.
