Notre Dame offensive coordinator Chuck Martin has accepted the head coaching job at Miami (Ohio), Bruce Feldman of CBSSports.com reports.
Miami fired coach Don Treadwell on Oct. 5 after the RedHawks' 21-9 loss to Central Michigan dropped them to 0-5 on the season. Treadwell was 8-21 in more than two years on the job at Miami.
Martin had been with Notre Dame since the 2010 season when he arrived in South Bend with new head coach Brian Kelly. Martin joined the Irish after six seasons at Grand Valley State, where he succeeded Kelly as head coach. While at Grand Valley State, he compiled a 74-7 record and won Division II championships in 2005 and 2006.
He served as secondary coach at Notre Dame in 2010 and 2011 before switching over to offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach in 2012. Martin tutored former Irish quarterback Everett Golson during Notre Dame's journey to the BCS title game in 2012.
He'll have his work cut our for him at Miami, which went 0-12 this season and currently ranks next to last in the FBS (No. 122) in total offense with 225 yards per game and scoring offense with 9.8 points per game.
