Buried on depth chart at Oklahoma, Kendal Thompson enters a QB battle at Utah.

Former Oklahoma quarterback Kendal Thompson has found a new home. Utah announced on Wednesday that the former Sooners signal caller will join the Utes. He will graduate in May and be eligible to play in the fall with two years of eligibility remaining.

Thompson announced in January that he planned to transfer from Oklahoma. In his Sooners career he played in two games and completed 4-of-13 passes for 64 yards and one touchdown, with one interception. His last appearance came in a 33-24 win over Oklahoma State on Dec. 7, when he went just 2-of-9 for 17 yards and one pick.

Thompson's Oklahoma career never flourished despite expectations that he might compete for the starting job last fall. He suffered a foot injury during preseason camp, which dropped him behind Trevor Knight and Blake Bell on the depth chart. Knight threw for 348 yards and four touchdowns in a 45-31 Sugar Bowl win over Alabama in January, and the redshirt sophomore is expected to enter spring as the Sooners' starter.
