The SEC Network has added former Alabama quarterback Greg McElroy as an analyst. McElroy, who the New York Jets selected in the seventh round of the 2011 NFL draft, announced his retirement from pro football on March 21. McElroy joins Tim Tebow as ESPN continues to fill out its broadcast roster for the new network.

“Greg was an integral member in what has been a dynasty of success at Alabama under coach Nick Saban over the last decade. The personal understanding he has of the teams we will cover every week allows a perspective unavailable on any other network,” said Stephanie Druley, ESPN vice president, production, college sports. “His intelligence, experience and first hand playing knowledge of playing in the conference on the biggest national stage will be an incredible asset to the fans.”

McElroy isn't new to the camera. He has a big fan in Richard Deitsch. Heck, Stewart Mandel actually predicted McElroy's hire in SI.com's end-of-season media roundtable.

"I would resist the urge to make it all ex-SEC coaches and jocks," Mandel wrote. "There are plenty of people qualified to comment on SEC football besides Tim Tebow. Not that he'd be bad at it. Or Greg McElroy, for that matter."
