Clemson wide receiver Germone Hopper will miss the rest of 2014 spring practice due to academics, Tigers coach Dabo Swinney told reporters on Monday.
According to the Greenville News, Swinney received the team's first academic reports on Monday as Clemson returned to practice from spring break. Swinney said Hopper's attention needs to be focused on the classroom, though the sophomore is not technically suspended.
“He’s a good young man, talented, but not very focused or committed to doing what he needs to do academically,” Swinney said. “So I’m giving him some time to go focus at Vickery Hall. That’s what he’s going to be working on these next few weeks.

“He’s got to grow up a little bit and hopefully this will help him. Sometimes these guys need a little help in getting focused. Hopefully he’ll come back, if he does what we’ve asked him to do, with a little bit better appreciation for his opportunity, a little different attitude. If he wants to be a part of the program, he’s going to have to do it.”
