Georgia State is looking to turn an iconic baseball stadium into a football venue. The Atlanta Journal-Constitutionreported on Wednesday that the school is proposing to repurpose Turner Field -- the current home of the Atlanta Braves -- into a football stadium.

Last year, the Braves announced they will construct a new stadium and relocate to nearby Cobb County in 2017. The Panthers' proposal also includes the construction of a new baseball stadium on the 77-acre area, as well as "retail, residential and student housing" development, according to the report.

Georgia State, which launched its football program in 2008 and just completed its first season on the FBS level, currently plays in the 74,000-seat Georgia Dome. The program averaged 15,577 fans last season, when the Panthers finished 0-12.
