Gonzaga was to return or import plenty of quality pieces next season, enough talent to merit preseason Top 20 consideration. Then the program added something it didn't have on Sunday.
Byron Wesley, USC's leading scorer last season, reportedly will transfer to Gonzaga and be immediately eligible to play in 2014-15, giving coach Mark Few an explosive wing scoring option that may have been one of the few elements missing from his roster.
ESPN.com first reported the news of the decision from Wesley, who averaged a team-best 17.8 points per game for the Trojans last season while adding 6.4 rebounds per game and shooting 46.7 percent from the floor.
Gonzaga, meanwhile, now has a formidable backcourt that also will feature seniors Kevin Pangos (14.4 points per game) and Gary Bell, Jr. (11.0). The Bulldogs also return 7-foot-1 junior-to-be Przemek Karnowski and welcome a pair of four-star recruits in guard Josh Perkins and power forward Domantas Sabonis.
