Florida State quarterback and last season's Heisman Trophy winner Jameis Winston has taken out an insurance policy worth $8-10 million, according to a report Monday night from Rand Getlin of Yahoo! Sports.

The policy -- a disability and "loss of value" policy -- would provide him with up to $10 million in insurance coverage. The policy was based on the assumption that the 20-year-old will be selected in the top 10 of next year's NFL draft and would "theoretically pay out if he fell out of the first round due to injury or illness," Getlin reported.

Winston has thrown for 4,057 yards and 40 touchdowns, helping lead the Seminoles to an ACC Championship and an historic last-minute victory over Auburn at the BCS National Championship Game. According to a source cited in the report, Winston is the first returning Heisman winner to purchase preseason loss of value coverage since Oklahoma quarterback Sam Bradford did in 2010.
