Former SMU recruit Emmanuel Mudiay has signed a deal in China to play for Guangdong, according to a report from Sportando

Adrian Wojnarowksi of Yahoo Sports reports Mudiay's deal to be for one year and $1.2 million.

Mudiay had signed to play for Larry Brown at SMU, choosing the school over Kentucky and Kansas. A 6-foot-5 inch point guard, Mudiay said that he wanted to play professionally over concerns about his family's financial well-being.

But according to multiple reports, Mudiay’s eligibility with the NCAA had come into question.

Mudiay played for two seasons at Prime Prep, a Dallas school co-founded by NFL Hall of Famer Deion Sanders. The school faces the possibility of having its charter revoked because of improper fiscal management and failing to comply with the state education code.
