When the Missouri Tigers left their longtime membership in the Big 12 to move to the SEC, one of the things left behind was the rival Kansas Jayhawks.

At Big 12 Media Days, Kansas head coach Charlie Weis said it wasn't the Jayhawks' decision to end the Border War rivalry series.

While Weis accused Missouri of ending the rivalry, Missouri coach Gary Pinkel said Monday "it would be great" for the two teams to revive the 123-year-old rivalry.

The two football programs haven't faced each other since 2011, when the Tigers defeated the Jayhawks 24-10 for their third straight – and final – Border War win.

Missouri and Kansas have only met in two matches since the University of Missouri moved all its NCAA athletic programs (except wrestling) to the SEC. The two meetings were in golf (Missouri finished first and Kansas 10th at the 2012 Golfweek Conference Challenge) and softball (Missouri beat Kansas 6-3 in the second round of the 2014 NCAA Softball Tournament).
