John Calipari 'in no hurry' to leave Kentucky

Kentucky coach John Calipari says he is no hurry to leave the school even as NBA teams continue to call him about job openings every offseason.

Kentucky men's basketball coach John Calipari says he is no hurry to leave the school even as NBA teams continue to call him about job openings every offseason.

Calipari has a 152-37 record in his five seasons, with four NCAA tournament appearances, three Final Fours and a national championship. 

Calipari was courted by the Cleveland Cavaliers for their then-vacant head coaching position this offseason, reportedly turning down a seven-year, $60 million contract. 

Just days later, he signed a seven-year, $52 million extension to stay at Kentucky.

"Coaching at UMass and Memphis -- I loved the opportunities I had there but I'm not sure there are other guys that would say, 'Yeah, I'd like to coach there,” Calipari said to CBSSports.com. “They'd rather be where they were for 25 years. That's why I'm no hurry to run or leave it. It's unique and it's hard but every job is hard in its own way.”

Calipari again has a top-five recruiting class this season and will have four five-star recruits on the roster.
