Originally from Lansing, Michigan, Barnes began his career at Central Michigan before transferring to Odessa College, a junior college, for 2012-13. He transferred to Bradley in April 2013.

Barnes was a starter for Bradley last season, averaging 8.6 points and 5.6 rebounds per game. His 73 offensive rebounds ranked second in the Missouri Valley Conference.
Bradley declined to provide comment to CBT.com, but is aware of the arrest.
