Report: Penn State TE Adam Breneman likely out for season

Penn State tight end Adam Breneman requires knee surgery and is likely out for the entire 2014 season. Penn State had announced Monday that Breneman was out indefinitely with an undisclosed injury.

Penn State tight end Adam Breneman requires knee surgery and is likely out for the entire 2014 season, reports the Harrisburg Patriot-News.

Penn State had announced Monday that Breneman was out indefinitely with an undisclosed injury.

According to the Patriot-News, Breneman's injury is related to a bone bruise in his left knee he sustained in the spring but does not involve damage to any ligaments. Breneman previously tore his right ACL before his senior year of high school.

The tight end likely would have needed surgery to heal the knee at some point, so Penn State decided it was best to operate now. 

Breneman, a sophomore, will be eligible for a redshirt if he misses the entire season. He would have three years of eligibility remaining beginning in 2015.

As a freshman last season, Breneman started five games and caught 15 passes for 186 yards and three touchdowns.
