Game Facts

Northern Illinois facts

In seven meetings, NIU has never defeated Northwestern. There has been one tie, in 1987.

The Huskies lead the country with 15 consecutive victories in games played in its opponents’ home stadium.

NIU ran 109 plays in their season opener against Presbyterian, breaking a school record.

Senior RB Akeem Daniels rushed for 118 yards on 15 carries in the opener, while Joel Bouagnon scored four rushing touchdowns.

Since the start of the 2010 season, only one FBS team, Oregon, has won more games than NIU.

Northwestern facts

Northwestern's season-opening loss was the first under head coach Pat Fitzgerald.

The Wildcats enter Saturday's matchup with a 10-game winning streak against MAC opponents.

Northwestern's home non-conference winning streak of 16 games - dating back to 2007 - was snapped with last week's loss to California.

Northwestern was the only FBS team in the country to be assessed zero penalty yards in its season opener.
