UCLA coach Jim Mora refused to name his starting quarterback for the team’s conference opener against Arizona State next Thursday, saying that “someone has to go in” the game.
Starter Brett Hundley injured his non-throwing elbow in the first quarter of their 20-17 victory against Texas last Saturday. Backup Jerry Neuheisel came in and completed 23 of 30 passes for 178 yards and two touchdowns.
Mora said he felt good and was excited about his team as they prepare for the Sun Devils and did not even commit to Neuheisel being the backup if Hundley is able to play. Mora also refused to not give any updates on the injury to Hundley.

“Just because Jerry went into that game doesn’t mean he’s our backup quarterback. We’ve never determined who is No. 2, No. 3 or No. 4,” Mora said, according to the Los Angeles Times. "We’ve got a whole bunch of guys. Next time someone has to go in there, it could be Asiantii Woulard. Heck, Asiantii might start the Arizona State game, who knows. We’ll see.”
