Auburn coach Gus Malzahn said Wednesday that the Big 12 officials for last Thursday's 20-14 win at Kansas State didn't allow the Tigers to play as fast offensively as they're used to.

Malzahn, a proponent of spread, fast-paced offenses, said officials were spotting the ball after plays slower than the pace to which his team was accustomed.

The Tigers have averaged 73 plays per game this season and ran 76 plays against the Wildcats.

However, as pointed out by AL.com, Auburn's average of 2.45 plays per minute against Kansas State was below its season mark of 2.47.

Auburn, which is 3-0 with wins over Arkansas, San Jose State and the Wildcats, hosts Louisiana Tech on Saturday.
