Former Texas quarterback David Ash, who announced his retirement from the game last week because of multiple concussions, penned a letter thanking the fans that was posted to the Longhorns' website on Wednesday.

The 22-year-old said he has "recently fallen on some harder times and am just so grateful that you have continued to support me."

His final game came vs. North Texas. It was his first full game since he played vs. BYU in 2013, when he suffered a concussion.

Ash was 15-7 as a starter and ends his career eighth all-time on the UT career passing yards list (4,728) and 10th overall in total offense (5,107). He threw for 31 touchdown passes, which ranks seventh in the history of the program.
