Georgia RB Todd Gurley suspended indefinitely

Georgia Bulldogs running back Todd Gurley has been indefinitely suspended by the UGA Athletic Association.

Georgia Bulldogs running back Todd Gurley has been indefinitely suspended by the UGA Athletic Association, the school announced Thursday.

Gurley is being suspended during an ongoing investigation into an alleged violation of NCAA rules.

ESPN's Joe Schad reports that the investigation centers around alleged memorabilia and likeness issues.

"I'm obviously very disappointed," said coach Mark Richt. "The important thing for our team is to turn all our attention toward preparation for Missouri."

Gurley is considered a Heisman Trophy favorite.

Remember, “indefinitely” can mean anything. Rule is school has to declare player ineligible and apply for reinstatement.

The junior has 973 all-purpose yards on the season, which is No. 2 in the FBS, and nine touchdowns. He is No. 6 in the FBS in rushing yards with 773 and No. 2 in rush yards per carry with an average of 8.22.

In Georgia's season-opening win over Clemson, Gurley accounted for four touchdowns himself, rushing for three and adding another on a kick return. Last weekend, Gurley rushed for two touchdowns and 163 yards in a win over Vanderbilt. He also threw a 50-yard pass to Jeb Blazevich.

The Bulldogs are 4-1 and No. 13 in the AP Poll heading into Saturday's game against No. 23 Missouri.
