Ohio State coach Urban Meyer said on Thursday that he considers Cam Newton a product of his offensive system, according to Bleacher Report's Ben Axelrod.

Meyer recruited Newton and Tim Tebow in back-to-back classes during his time at Florida. John Brantley, a four-star quarterback recruit at the time, also joined Meyer at Florida in the same class as Newton.

Unlike Tebow and Brantley, Newton left Florida. He spent most of his playing time in and won a Heisman as a part of coach Gus Malzahn's offense at Auburn when Malzahn was offensive coordinator there.

Meyer is in his third season at Ohio State. In 2012 and 2013, he went 12-0 and 12-2. As coach at Florida from 2005 to 2010, Meyer went 65-20, winning the Sugar Bowl in 2009 and BCS Championships in 2006 and 2008.

In Meyer's first two seasons at Ohio State, quarterback Braxton Miller completed 60.9 percent of his passes for 4,133 yards and 39 touchdowns. Miller added 2,339 yards and 25 touchdowns on the ground. Miller is out for the 2014 season after tearing the labrum in his right shoulder in August.

In five games this season, Ohio State quarterback J.T. Barrett has completed 66.2 percent of his passes for 1,354 yards and 17 touchdowns, adding 276 yards and two touchdowns on the ground.

So far this season, the Buckeyes are 4-1 overall and 1-0 in the Big Ten. Their only loss came at home against Frank Beamer's Virginia Tech Hokies. Their next game is at home against Rutgers on Oct. 18.
