Former Texas QB David Ash exploring pitching for Longhorns
Former Texas quarterback David Ash, who recently decided to walk away from football due to repeated concussion issues, is exploring the possibility of joining the Longhorns' baseball team as a pitcher, according to The Dallas Morning News.
Ash played in just three football games last season because of concussions, then sustained another one in Texas' season opener this season.

On Sept. 17, head coach Charlie Strong announced that Ash decided he will no longer play football.
According to the News, Ash has thrown a few bullpen sessions with the pitching coach of the Longhorns baseball team. They were described as "very preliminary" and there's been no decision made on whether Ash, who did not play baseball in high school, will join the team or not.
Last season, Texas baseball went 46-21 and reached the final four of the College World Series in Omaha before falling to Vanderbilt.

Following his decision to leave the game of football, Ash thanked Longhorns fans in a letter. The junior ended his career eighth all-time on the UT career passing yards list (4,728), 10th overall in total offense (5,107), and seventh overall in touchdown passes (31).
