Victor Cruz: No doubt 'I'll come back from this injury in a positive way'

Giants wide receiver Victor Cruz said he expects to return to "tip top shape" after tearing the patellar tendon in his right knee in Sunday's loss to the Philadelphia Eagles.

Giants wide receiver Victor Cruz said he expects to return to "tip top shape" after tearing the patellar tendon in his right knee in Sunday's loss to the Philadelphia Eagles.

Cruz said doctors have projected that his recovery could take between four and eight months. Eagles coach Chip Kelly reportedly visited Cruz in the hospital the morning after he suffered the injury.

“No, I don’t have any doubt in my mind. I don’t have any doubt that I’ll be back,” Cruz said in speaking with the media via conference call Friday for the first time since his season-ending injury in Sunday’s 27-0 loss to the Eagles in Philadelphia.

“I don’t have any doubt that my rehab process will be successful and that I’ll be in tip top shape and ready to go when the time is right. I don’t have any doubt in my mind. I’ve never been bred that way. I’ve just never believed in doubt. I’ve always believed in, whatever I could put my mind to, whatever God has enabled me to do or whatever He has planned for me is gonna happen. And I think that’s what fuels me. I don’t have any doubt that I’ll come back from this injury in a positive way.”

Cruz signed a five-year contract extension with the Giants this summer. Over six games this season, the 27-year-old caught 23 passes for 337 yards and one touchdown.

The Giants (3-3) play at Dallas on Sunday.
